Gay and Gray in the West
Gay and Gray in the West is a grassroots organization dedicated to
understanding and planning for the impending bubble of gaybie boomers
reaching retirement age and beyond.
It's been 35 years since Stonewall and we've come a long way but we've
still got a ways to go.
Now is the time to prepare to do it as gracefully as possible as the
first wave of us are entering our 5th decade on the planet.
Mission:
Gay and Gray the West is an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people and allies dedicated to combating ageism and homophobia while supporting and facilitating all aspects of our aging through advocacy, education and services.
Welcome Ken!
Ken Helander has been appointed to serve full time as the SAGE Program Coordinator, and will devote his energy and expertise toward building a varied and exciting program to address the broad variety of needs and interests in our community. He brings over 30 years of experience working with older people, and advocating within the GLBT community. Ken was born in Denver, began his career working in a community health center in Fort Collins, served on the board of the Alaska AIDS Assistance Association, and managed a large clinic for the elderly in San Francisco. Since coming back to Denver in 2004, Ken has continued doing extensive work with the elder community as a member of Gay and Gray of the West, as well as co-leading a support group for older long-term AIDS survivors.
Ken welcomes input from all interested persons, and he can be reached at 303-733-7743 ext. 122, or by email to khelander@glbtcolorado.org. Join us in welcoming Ken as part of The Center team!

What Makes You Proud?
Monday June 22nd, 11am-1pm at The Center
Celebrate the 40-year anniversary of the Stonewall Inn uprisings in New York, which ignited the movement for GLBT equality and rights. Join the Center's Elders Program on to commemorate the anniversary, and have the opportunity to discuss the meaning of the GLBT rights movement in the last 40 years, and how it has affected the lives of you and your friends. If you're able, please bring a dish to share. Make plans to join your friends at PrideFest, June 27 & 28 - Look for a special Elder’s area to sit and visit with friends!
PrideFest
June 27 & 28 – Civic Center Park
We would like to have a SAGE of the Rockies contingent march in the Pride Parade on Sunday, June 28. Marching together as SAGE of the Rockies will be a real opportunity to be visible to a large number of people and draw attention to the new program. We will also have a booth and sitting area at the Festival area both Saturday and Sunday. If you are available and interested to participate and volunteer for either or both of these events, please contact:
